Frequently asked questions

Where will my donation go?

One hundred percent of your gift will go directly to support talented students through your chosen cause at the University of Leeds. Your support is instrumental in ensuring all outstanding students have the opportunity to benefit from and make the most of their experience at Leeds, regardless of their background.

How can I make my gift?

If you are able to, please make our gift securely online using this website. We’ll acknowledge your gifts as soon as we receive it.

If you’re not able to donate online, please contact us at give@leeds.ac.uk and we can provide alternative ways for you to make your gift. Whilst other donation methods are available and all gifts are greatly received, we hope you will consider using our online donation page. It’s quick, easy and secure.

Alternative donation methods may take us a little longer than normal to process your gift and send an acknowledgement.

Will my gift be acknowledged?

Yes. When you make your gift online you’ll receive an email acknowledgement to let you know that your donation has successfully processed. Later on, we’ll get in touch to let you know how your gift is being put to good use.

Can I make a regular gift to support Leeds?

Yes. You can tick the box on the donation page. Making a regular gift to Leeds allows you to support today and through the years to come. If you make a regular gift to your chosen cause through this page, you will join more than 2,100 supporters who choose to give this way, whether that be monthly, quarterly or annually. Together these gifts really add up and play a fundamental role in the success of the University and our students.

Can I make a significant gift to the University of Leeds?

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid makes your gift go further.

Gift Aid is a scheme available to UK registered charities, like the University of Leeds. It adds 25p for every £1 you donate. For your gift to qualify, you must be a UK taxpayer and must provide your home address for tax purposes. If you are a higher rate tax-payer, you can make a claim for the difference between basic rate and higher rate tax when completing your Self-Assessment form. Please note that you must pay an amount of income tax or capital gains tax equal or more than the tax reclaim on your donation in any particular year.

We’ll use the reclaimed tax to add to your donation and support even more Leeds students.

We will treat any donations you have made during the previous four years, and all donations you make in the future, as Gift Aid donations, so if your circumstances change or you move address please let us know and we will amend our records.

When you make a gift, we will ask for all the details required. We will then claim back the Gift Aid tax relief – there’s nothing else you need to do.

If you wish, you have 30 days from the date of your confirmation letter or email to cancel an oral gift declaration.

Is my payment secure?

Yes. All payments through this University of Leeds giving website will be securely processed by Stripe: www.stripe.com/gb/privacy

What if I’m giving from overseas?

Gifts made through this website go directly to the University of Leeds.

If you live in the USA and wish to give tax effectively to the North American Foundation for the University of Leeds (NAFUL), please select 'Give in USD' at the top of the donation page.

Is the University of Leeds a registered charity?
