It may have been a few years since you graduated from the University of Leeds, but we hope there is much about your time here that has stayed with you - you are forever part of the Leeds community.
Did you know giving to support students is in our bones - and our architecture, with the power of philanthropy living right at the heat of campus with the Parkinson Building. In 1936, alumnus and former scholarship recipient Frank Parkinson, who supported the establishment of this magnificent building, also gave a generous gift to provide scholarships for future generations of Leeds students. I'm proud to say that today, as much as the building is central to campus, so too is the dedication of our alumni community in supporting those who may have otherwise struggled to make their way at Leeds.
By giving today, you will join a worldwide community of over 17,000 donors, who are working with us to tackle inequalities, generate new knowledge and make a positive impact on society.
• A place to forge friendships and feel at home. Your support will help put on a range of social events enabling students to settle into university life and meet the friends who will become a family to them at Leeds. You can also help provide basic living essentials such as kitchen utensils and bedding, to a student from a less advantaged background, helping them feel at home in Leeds from the day they arrive.
• A place to access wellbeing support. Alumni have provided invaluable support to students during what can be an exciting but daunting experience. Gifts have supported counselling and physical activity sessions to benefit their overall health and reduce the feeling of isolation.
• A place to hone academic skills. Your support will help provide extra study and writing skills workshops to help bridge the gap between school and University.
• A place to access extracurricular activities. Your support will help students from under-represented groups to join clubs and societies to help find their place at Leeds; to have fun, develop skills and make a positive contribution to society.
• A place to feel confident when entering a competitive graduate job market. Alumni also offer fantastic support by delivering inspirational talks on campus, offering business insights and mentorship to help students achieve their career goals.
"As someone who is estranged from most of my family, I have constantly had to second guess every decision I have made, whether it is financial or for my own personal development. This scholarship and the support of the Plus Programme has meant that I have been able to access many different opportunities, and in turn, create my own network of supporters here at University."
